Our last game was away to Watchet on Thursday 15th April, where we threw away a 2 goal lead and lost 3-2 and put a big dent in our title ambitions. This game, which was on Saturday 17th April, was away to Minehead Reserves, we all knew this would also be a very hard game due to travelling and the amount of injuries we have in the team. Once we arrived at the ground it was a perfect set up for a good game of football the weather was sunny and the pitch looked brilliant. The game started at a fast pace and we had a lot of the ball and created a few early chances and cut out everything Minehead were trying to throw at us. As the game went on Minehead did create a few chances, but the defence were playing a very deep line and swept it all up. With 16 minutes gone early in the match a free kick emerged to the game, Damon Jennings and Adam Kinsey our free kick specialists stepped up to the equation. As soon as the ball was placed Damon Jennings started to walk away as it was in an area where Adam Kinsey likes to take his sort of free kicks from. Adam then took the shot, he kind of chipped it about three yards of the ground and went slowly through the wall and there keeper must of seen it at the last minute as it drifted into the bottom left hand corner. This made the score 1-0. The pressure was mounting on the Minehead defence and we were playing some good football all around the minehead team at all times. On the 30 minute mark Adam Kinsey took a couple of players on and was right out by the corner flag, the ball was on his weaker right foot, he turned a defender. Whilst this was happening Matthew Kinsey was making a sensational run forward. As Adam had turned the defender and Matty was making this run from about 30 yards, Adam whipped a great ball in just in front of Matty so he could run on and put some power into the header so the keeper would have no chance in a million years of saving it. That was exactly what happened Matty ran on to the ball and hit a bullet of a header in to the back of the net. It was a great combination from both brothers to make the score 2-0. The second half was a totally different game and Minehead seemed to be winning the first and second ball all over the park. With 65 minutes gone Minehead scored two quick emphatic goals to make the score stand at 2-2. We were in the same situation on Tuesday night against Watchet and let them get back into the game to level the score. Having just 25 minutes left on the clock Minehead were on top and causing all kinds of problems to our midfield and defence. Minehead got a free kick on the edge of the box, which was curled around our wall and put into the back of our net. This put Minehead 3-2 up with only 15 minutes remaining. A long clearance up field put the ball inside the Minehead penalty area, where a Minehead defender hand balled it to give us a penalty. Adam Kinsey stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner to level the scores 3-3 with 10 minutes to go. The manager was pulling his hair out over the lack of effort from every player to win the game a draw was not good enough after losing on Tuesday. Minehead got another goal to make the score 4-3 and the winners of today’s game. This was another game lost after going 2-0 up and losing. This was a very disappointing week of football and now looks like we have handed the league title to Bishops Lydeard Reserves. The attitude when we went 2-0 up was good but I think we all thought we had won it when it came to 2-0 and I think everyone took their foot of the gas a little bit. When the score came back to 2-2 I think all of the boy’s heads just went down and all of us got a bit jarred off with this happening.
