This home game against Civil Service had to be one the biggest games of the season due to players missing from the squad and bad run of defeats we had encountered in the last couple of weeks. As a club we knew the pressure was on all of us to maintain our league form and put behind us, our only league defeat of the season against Sampford Blues. The Civil Service boys turned up and every one of their players had to be over 6ft tall, which was an advantage to them in the air. Once the game got going Civil passed the ball around well and frequently played the long ball to use the teams height to their advantage but to no avail as the Predators defence dealt with this comfortably. After 15 minutes of play old veteran wing back Leon ‘giggsy’ Wood had a storming run down the left wing to win Preds a corner. The corner was crossed in by Adam Kinsey which was met, to everyone’s surprise by the old veteran Leon who managed to get part of his head on the ball to guide it into a tight angle on the near post to put us 1-0 up. After our first goal the whole team went up a gear and everyone starting buzzing around the park full with confidence. Every player on the pitch looked hungry and wanted to make sure we kept a clean sheet to help our goal difference. Ryan Weston scored the next goal with 22 minutes gone to make the score 2-0 with some great forward play and hard work. The next goal came from some good midfield work to feed front man and goal machine Adam Kinsey, who let loose a blistering shoot into the top corner to make the score line 3-0 and looking good after 35 minutes. Just before the break Nigel Cornell knocked a long exquisite ball to Adam Kinsey who went around the keeper and slotted it home to make it 4-0 at half time and the 2nd for the big man, which was a deserved lead. After the break we kept our momentum going to put Civil on the back foot and with 60 minutes played Michael Organ was subbed and replaced by Pete Hobbs. Pete made an instant impact on the game, with some dazzling football skills he was able to set up Ryan for his 2nd goal and an impressive 5-0 with 65 minutes gone. With some good solo work from Adam who closed down a loose pass from the keeper and blasted it into the back of net for his 3rd of the day to make it a convincing 6-0 win. With the game over a further 2 changes were made taking of the two front men Adam and Ryan and replacing them with back from injury Shawn Pople and Wayne Trapnell the manager. The game stayed at 6-0 and made our goal difference even better. We have to carry on this form to next week’s game against Wembdon.
