After losing our last 2 games to Watchet and Minehead the moral in the dressing room was down and the players knew we had thrown the division 2 title away. The only thing left for us now this season was to win our last 5 games to achieve runners up and enjoy top flight football next year. Our next game we had to play was away to White Hart Rangers, which was another hard game for us to win. But on paper it would have shown us favourites to win. The massive bonus of today’s game was to have old and reliable keeper Christopher Ford standing in for absence keeper Lloyd Hackling. The game started off with White Hart Rangers pushing hard to get an early goal and cause another upset and add more misery to our season. The defence held strong and we cleared everything White Hart Rangers threw at us and Chris Ford was outstanding making some top class saves. The more the game went on the more we got into it and started getting the ball out wide and up to our two front men. With 22 minutes gone we broke out on to the attack, which involved Jason McPheat and Oliver Smith in the centre of the park linking up with the 2 front men Ryan Weston and Adam Kinsey to gain ourselves a corner. Adam Kinsey took the corner and sliced the ball very bad into the air and somehow the ball ended up in the back of the net to make us 1-0 up. The game carried on for the next 10 minutes, with neither side making any goal scoring opportunities until the hard working Ryan Weston, got himself in a good position from a through ball by Oliver Smith to slot the ball in the bottom right hand corner to put us 2-0 up, with 5 minutes of the half remaining. The scores stayed the same for the rest of the half. In the second half we knew we had to keep our lead and not fall apart like we have done in our last two games and throw the 3 points away. White Hart Rangers carried on to press forward and cause us problems and had a penalty turned down, captain Gary Head seem to pull one of their players down but got away with it. The manager brought on new signing Adam Evans into the centre of the park, who is helping out for the rest of the season due to the amount of injury’s we have to many players. Adam made an instant impact he won some good headers and made some simple, but effective passing along the ground. Shawn Pople took himself off and Christopher Organ who went into midfield to allow Adam Evans to take up his normal playing position at centre half alongside Kered Pople and Gary Head. Adam slotted well into the centre of defence and worked well with the rest of the players. With 70 minutes played Adam Kinsey got himself his 2nd goal. with some good work from Oliver Smith to feed the tall Striker the ball for him to blast into the roof of the net. This made the score 3-0 and the score stayed the same and we were the winners once again after our little slip up. This week’s man of the match went to well deserved Chris Ford who stepped into the team after Lloyds Hackling’s absence.
